Flashback Friday: Rock Island At State

Rock Island's Mystique Thompson
Rock Island's Mystique Thompson stretches over the finish line during the preliminary heat of the 100-meter dash at Illinois High School Association's Girls State Track & Field Meet in Charleston. Competing as a sophomore in 2012, Thompson went on to finish her prep career as the Quad Cities area's leading female prep state medalist.

In addition to her collection of 12 IHSA state medals, Thompson, now a member of the Southern Illinois University track program, left her stamp in several spots in the girls' track program records. Upon graduation she held her school's best times in the 100-m Dash (12.08), 200-meter Dash (24.75), 4x100 Relay (47.42) and 4x200 Relay (1:40.42) after her senior year.

Thompson continues to break records. At the tail end of February the Saluki sophomore broke the school's 60-yard dash record. In this twitter video you can see her explode off the line and into the SIU record book clocked at 7.46. Today, she was named SIU's Most-Improved Athlete for the indoor season.

This week's Flashback Friday features the women from the Lady Rocks and their 2012 trip to the state track meet. See more photos in the 2012 state track prelim gallery and the 2012 state track finals gallery.
