2004 wrestling gallery added to the PhotoNews Stacks

Whether it was the frontend or backend of the year, probably one of the best eras to cover wrestling in central Illinois started back in 2004. Area teams were uber competitive with three or more marquee grapplers on their squad. A few programs, like St. Joseph-Ogden and Monticello, had a female wrestler on their roster, too.

Making the deepest postseason run of any area team, St. Joseph-Ogden behind a stable of young, talented wrestlers, advanced to and fell 35-33 to Orion at the IHSA sectional meet after plowing through their season with ease.

Below is a quick peek at some of our favorite photos from the 2004 gallery we posted on Christmas eve. See more than 140 photographs featuring great area wrestlers like Ben Gorman, Shane Watson, Billy Gallo, Aaron Gones and more in the republished gallery here.
