It's Wayback Wednesday and baseball 2005

April 26, 2005 - St. Joseph, IL - Spartans' Ben Gorman heads for first base after a bunt that drops in front of the plate. St. Joseph-Ogden beat visiting Monticello Tuesday night 10-1. Gorman, who pitched the entire game, improved his record on the mound to 4-2. The senior hurler notched 13 strike-outs against the Sages. March 18, 2005 - Champaign, IL - Trojan catcher Shawn Robertson holds on to the ball after making a tag as he is tripped up by SJO base runner trying to make it to home plate. St. Joseph-Ogden falls 4-7 in their five inning season opener to Armstrong-Potomac. The game was called early on account of darkness. Check out 12 more action photos in the gallery here.

June 18, 2005 - Champaign, IL - Pekin's Caleb Vogel bobbles a ground ball during game two against Champaign. Post 44 and Champaign split their doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Centennial Field. Champaign won game one 11-0 while Pekin rallied in the 6th inning to a 6-3 victory. See more photos . . .

June 23, 2005 - Tolono, IL - Former St. Joseph-Odgen baseball player Jason Johnson winds up for a pitch for the Philo Aces. Danville hurt host Philo 22-1 at the Unity High School baseball diamond Thursday evening in their regular season match up. See 24 more photos published that year here . . .

April 23, 2005 - Tolono, IL- Rockets' pitcher Dane Paul [middle] trips over first baseman Jesse Wassom before colliding with catcher Clint Schwartz [right] on an attempt to catch a GCMS foul ball. Tolono Unity could not heat up enough in winter-like conditions to hold off visiting Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in their 22-9 loss Saturday morning. The meeting of the two teams was slated to be a twin bill but below 40's temperatures and strong winds out of the north, along with windchills dipping into the lower 30's, forced the game to a single-nine inning game. June 23, 2005 - Tolono, IL - Danville's Brendon Watson slides under the tag by Aces' catcher Jake Mathis. Danville hurt host Philo 22-1 at the Unity High School baseball diamond Thursday evening in their regular season American Legion baseball match up. Chargers' Matt Moore slides to second

May 3, 2005 - Champaign, IL - Chargers' Matt Moore slides to second on a steal attempt from first base. Moore, who was safe on the play thanks to an overthrown ball from the Tigers' catcher, slides by visiting Urbana 6-5 in the first of their two Big 12 Conference meetings. The two teams will face each other again on May 5 with Urbana playing host to the Chargers.
