It's on! Wrestling week 2017

Later this week 28 wrestlers in each of three divisions will leave it all on the mat in search of a coveted state wrestling title at the State Farm Center on the University of Illinois campus. More than 600 wrestlers will shoot, twist, reverse and takedown opponents in hopes of securing one of the two championship match spots. The excitement, anticipation and all the nervous energy makes "Wrestling Week" one of, if not the most memorable week in a high school wrestler's career.

To keep that competitive fire burning, below are six pictures from the more than 900 images shot during the preliminary round for our news media partners during the 2015 installment of the IHSA Individual Wrestling State Finals. Be sure follow us on Instagram and Twitter (@photonewswire) this week for more action from our vast image archives as well as coverage starting Thursday evening from this year's title chase for 42 future state champions.
