October 23, 2004 - St. Joseph-Ogden high school finished their regular season with a perfect 9-0 season.  The Spartan defense first string defense did not give up a single touchdown.  The only score allowed this season was by Bunker Hill against the third string defense.  SJO heads into the 2004 state playoffs the number on seed in their quadrant. Quarterback Kyle Duval is a senior on this year's championship bound team.

Young is one of the area's leading softball strike-out artists. July 7, 2005 - Champaign, IL -  Mattie Armstrong, of Champaign and a member of the Super Friends team, throws a ball during a dodgeball tournament at the Leonard Recreational Center Thursday night.  Teams made up of Park District employees competed for bragging rights during the five hour long tournament won by Team TOBs.   The group normally gathers for more informal play every Monday and Thursday this summer.    Armstrong scored a hit knocking out another member of the opposing team.

March 2007 - Nick Krisman was a member of the St. Joseph-Ogden basketball team.  Krisman was presented this 20x24 poster commissioned by his parents as part of the senior recognition program at the team's last home game.  He and his fellow seniors along with the 2007 team was the first in the school's 48 year history to win a sectional basketball title.  The senior, who was recruited to play baseball on Heartland Community College's inaugural baseball team, was also a member of the school's Class 3A state runner-up football team.

May 1, 2006 - Champaign, IL - Over a million Hispanics nationwide showed collective support by boycotting work and schools today. Urbana native James Hascall, his wife and children were on hand for the twin cities' rally. Hascall and his family were on hand because his wife, who has been in the United States for 13 years, is from Honduras and they wanted to show unified support in opposition to HR4437. Over 500 people gathered at the office of Tim Johnson, 15th District Congressional Representative. Johnson was not in his office.

Jessica Leigh Peters [fourth from the right] was crowned this year's queen and will make appearances at the fair, participate in area parades as well as in several speaking engagements.
