    By Sports Desk

(Watseka, IL) - With only one loss on the books and behind a double-double from senior Gina Hinders, the St. Thomas More girls’ basketball team sent tremors across the Sangamon Valley Conference after schooling Watseka in a 62-37 decision Monday.

Hinders, who recorded 7 blocks scored 12 points and pulled down team-high 13 boards. Fellow senior Maggie Fitzgerald hauled in 10 rebounds and finished with 7 points for the night. Brittany Einck led the Sabers in the scoring department with 16 points.

St. Thomas More saved their best effort for last putting the proverbial hurtin’ on the Warriors in the final quarter of play with a 22-6 run.

Senior Erin Cowan led Watseka with 15 points while classmate Katie Cowan chipped in 7.

The 11-1 Sabers, who are seeded #3 at the State Farm Classic basketball tournament in Bloomington-Normal, host Chicago’s Regina Dominican this Saturday. The Sabers are scheduled to face Taylor Ridge-Rockridge at Bloomington Central Catholic High School December 28 in their tournament opener at 11:30am.
