Marathoners navigate through twin city course at the Illinois Marathon

Jason Lokwatom, from Ngong Hills, Kenya, runs through downtown Champaign during the 2012 Illinois Marathon earlier today. He finished the course at 2:22:46 to finish first out of the 1,137 men who ran this year's race. Decatur's Jordan Trump runs the Illinois Marathon in 2012

Running behind the eventual women's champion, Jackie Pirtle-Hall, Jordan Trump, from Decatur, IL, nears the 13-1/3 mile mark during the 2012 Illinois Marathon. He ran the 26.2 mile course at 2:50:26 to place 20th out of the 1,137 men who ran this year's race. Trump was finished 21st overall.

Looking at the course ahead, Michelle Corkum runs down the center of Logan Street in Champaign during the 2012 Illinois Marathon. She finished the 26.2 mile course at 2:55:48 placing second out of the 740 women who ran this year's race. She clocked in 26th overall out of the more than 2,000 marathoners who ran today and secured second place in her age division.


Bloomington runner Levi Kibler

Passing the halfway mark on the course, Levi Kibler, from Bloomington, IL, keeps a smooth stride as he passes the intersection of Logan and South Market Street in Champaign. He cruised to a time of 3:03:07 finishing 41st in the Illinois Marathon men's division and 45th overall.

Dan Punkay, from Champaign, IL, sheds a glove to grab energy gel while running along West John Street in Champaign. He finished 26.2 mile course at 3:55:39 to place 481st and crossed the finish line 642st overall.
