Izard, whose career PR was 10.65, finished in 7th place at 12.64. Leading runners in all eight lanes, Salt Fork's Bailey Allen heads to the finish line in the 4x200 at the Unity Girl's Track Invitational on April 13, 2007. Twenty teams, mostly from Champaign, Vermilion and Douglas County competed at this year's annual track and field event held at Hicks Field in Tolono on Friday night. The Storm finished second in the team standings at this year's meet.

Arato finishes 8th at Illinois Marathon

Francesco Arato, from Bolingbrook, IL, runs to a eighth place overall finish at the 2016 Illinois Marathon. Despite the wet, rainy conditions, he finished the annual marathon event in Champaign-Urbana with a time of 2:36:48 on April 30. More than 1,400 runners finished this year's course which runs through the twin-city community and finishes on the 50-yard line at Memorial Stadium on the University of Illinois campus.

Monmouth United, in their fourth consecutive state appearance at East Side Centre, defeated Cumberland High School 1-0 to advance to Saturday's championship game. The 5'5" shortstop contributed one United's five hits in the one-run dual. A day later, the righthander booked a pair of hits and matching runs to help lead her team to the 2011 Class 1A title after 6-0 victory over Schlarman.

Brown leads East to 2nd at state

Lincoln-Way East's Aaliyah Brown focuses on the finish line after the baton exchange with Lincoln-Way East's Dana O'Grady during Saturday's championship 4x100m relay at the IHSA Track and Field State Finals on May 21, 2011. Brown, in what was the most talked about performance of the day, took the Griffins from fourth place to first in the last 100 yards of the race. The quartet finished the race at 47 seconds flat. Brown, a sophomore, secured gold medals in the 100 and 200-m dashes, this event, and added a bronze in the 4x400m relay to here collection while leading the LWE squad to a second place team finish at state this season.

Crystal Lake South's Nick Robles tees off on the 12th fairway during his second consecutive state final appearance at the IHSA Golf State Finals. Robles, after turning in a two-day total of 148, tied Thomas O'Bryan from Waubonsie Valley for number one spot. The pair played a tie-break round where O'Bryan prevailed to give Gators' star golfer the runner-up title. In the following 2011-12 as a senior Robles placed third in the Class 3A state tournament.
